The News You Need to Know:
Thanks go out to XJahnX and Evo Barricade for posting two great reviews on iTunes. We appreciate you taking the time to do that and will try not to disappoint.
Just in case you’ve been in a coma this week:
Closed Beta Test #5, July 31 – August 3
Focus: Elyos and Asmodian levels 1-30
Starting time: 31st of July, Friday (noon PDT, 8 PM BST, 9 PM CEST)
Ending time: 3rd of August, Monday (noon PDT, 8 PM BST, 9 PM CEST)
Clean-Up:
Matt Fuss, whose piano music is in the intro, is a male. Gratz! Check out his web site here.
The most interesting thing in the forums: Creative Corner. Where was I when all this talent was being handed out?!?
Mail Call:
- Shane is hoping Aion offers some complexity in its combat system. Check out all of the class skills here. Warp at Aion Insider gives a concise explanation of the progressively linked nature of skills, to include branching. Also, SkyRi at Aion Insider wrote an informative article concerning the buffs / debuffs players receive from directional movement while in combat.
- Shane also asks about “clicking”, keybindings, and macros. There is an easy to follow macro guide at Learn Aion. I strongly recommend looking around while you are there. Loads of detailed info. Lightwolf over at Aion Forumshas also put together a pretty good basic guide based on his experiences in CBT 4 and has even included some nice examples for Templars.
- Jesse asks about game lag. We’re optimistic and hope it won’t be an issue due to the multiple channels on a single server. Just a warning, be ready for a couple minutes of start-up time.
- Jesse wants to earn the cheddar! Apparently Jesse wants to get on quick and earn money because he wants to know about the drop rate for in-game gold. While we felt that the kinah was indeed plentiful, I’m not sure it isn’t tweaked up for beta.
- Lil Timmy is looking for tank guides. Sadly but understandably, Ciderhelm over at Tankspot.com wants to see if this game grows legs before he tries to take it for a walk. Templars, perhaps you should try to tank Boss Ciderhelm. Send him a cool e-mail letting him know that Aion will be around for a long time. As luck would have it, after
recording but before posting, a new Templar class review was released at Ten Ton Hammer. - Lil Timmy expressed an inner desire to become an elf and dance around on mailboxes. I encourage him to fly into The Abyss and share his smooth moves with the opposite faction. /Flashdance for the win!
Basic Training (Noob Files):
Yes, I mixed my references, but I had a sound issue with the original bumper so reveille it is and “Basic Training” is born!
We want to make sure we always have a piece of the show for new players, and this is it. The first piece of advice is to check out theBeginner’s Guide at Aion Online, even if you’re an experienced gamer but new to Aion.
Music Break:
Angel Lust by FakeShark-Real Zombie, check them out here. If you don’t start rocking in your seat when you listen to this song, seek medical attention immediately!
This song, and all our bed music, can also be found at musicalley.com
Special Feature:
This is part 1 of my conversation with Our Buddy Don, another experienced gamer, about some of the class mechanics we’ve encountered so far.
We were both impressed with the equipment skinning mechanic. Learn more from Aion Insider here.
Main Topic: Legions
You can check out the levels and requirements for legions here.
Joe has a brief article entitled Finding the Right Guild at Launch over at Aion Armory which puts the search into perspective.
After a brief explanation of the general types of legions and how they appear to operate in Aion, Lori asks some more detailed questions. It really is too much to discuss here, but if you’re new to MMOs then there’s a lot of good info. If you’ve been around a while, it is interesting to here a newbie’s perspective.
We discuss some actual excerpts from the guild recruitment thread over at Aion Source: Asmodians and Elyos.
I laughed, I cried…
Hey, This is Neat:
First, please, please e-mail or call us with your suggestions for a new name for this segment!
You Gamers will test your system against minimum and recommended specs for Aion, tell you where you rate, and actually provide hardware upgrade recommendations. You may need to run this through IE due to some Java script issues, and you’ll need to allow the active x controls.
Want to know about the titles you can get in the game? Here is everything you need to know.
